Norton Anti-Virus Worm Protection detected a "Trojan Horse" in Orb right after installation |
||||
After installing Orb, Norton Anti-Virus Worm Protection gives the following error:
Details: Rule "Default Block Extreme Trojan horse" blocked communication. Local address: All local network adapters (1090). Process name is "C:\Program Files\ORB Networks\ORB\...\OrbSomething.exe". Norton, as well as other Anti-Virus protection software, consider any attempt by an application to open network connections as a potential “trojan” behavior. Since the Orb application on your PC uses sockets to establish connections with our servers, some versions of Norton places it in this category. When Orb is launched, it does need to exit your system and establish a connection with our servers to identify your system on the network, so it can log you to your PC when you remotely connect to your Orb account to access your PC. We can guarantee that there is no virus, malware, spyware, or otherwise malicious code in Orb. We are confident that should you inquire with Norton, they will confirm that there is no virus in the Orb software. To verify this, they do routinely request a copy of the application: you can just point them to http://www.orb.com/download, the location from which you downloaded Orb, so they can also download it for testing. Results of their diagnosis will undoubtedly confirm what we are representing. |
