Is Windows Vista operating system compatible with Orb?

Yes. You can install Orb on any of the four Windows Vista versions available (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) as Orb now fully supports this platform.

Note that since the Vista-Home Premium and the Vista Ultimate versions include the Media Center application, these versions also come with Microsoft MPEG-2 decoder. However, the Orb setup program will also install the Dscaler MPEG-2 decoder and set it as the preferred codec for streaming live and recorded TV (e.g., files with a DVR-MS extension).

So, it is recommended that you do not change the Dscaler MPEG-2 decoder back to Microsoft MPEG-2 decoder unless you have tested it and are sure that you do not experience any audio or video problem when streaming either live or recorded NTSC analog or ATSC digital TV channels in Orb.

To change the MPEG-2 codec you want to use in Orb: on your Orb PC, click the Orb tray icon > Configuration > Advanced (or More info, on older Orb versions) > Codecs, then select your preferred codec.

Known Issue: the Orb InfraRed program (OrbIR.exe) which controls the transmission of IR codes from your IR blaster to your Set-Top Box so that you can remotely change live TV channels in Orb in this type of TV setup does not work on Vista Home Basic and Business editions..

Orb is working to resolve this issue. Check the Orb Community forums for updates on this.
