If you get an Orb error : "Your PC running Orb is not connected to the server...." when you log on to mycast.orb.com to connect to your Orb PC, there are two likely possibilities:
- Your home PC cannot connect to our server. Here are troubleshooting steps you can take:
- Verify that your home PC is connected to the Internet by launching your Internet browser and accessing any online Web site.
- Stop and restart Orb, and verify that you have a green Orb icon on your taskbar.
- Do a full shutdown and restart of your Orb PC then, once your PC is rebooted, right-click your Taskbar, select Task Manager, then the Processes tab, and verify that Orb.exe and OrbTray.exe are running.
- If you still do not get a green Orb tray icon after the above steps, then Orb does not launch properly on your PC. Check and make sure that you have allowed all Orb applications in your Windows or other software firewall, as well as in your antivirus program.
- Try to temporarily disable your firewall/antivirus software, then reinstall Orb.
- If you have a green Orb tray icon on your Orb PC taskbar, and all Orb processes are properly running as described above, you may not be using the correct Orb Login and Password you have registered when you installed Orb:
- Click the Orb tray icon on your PC, then Configuration, select the Users tab, and make sure you are using the Account name(s) registered on your computer. Use that (or, one of these) name(s) to try again. If that still does not work, it is possble that our user database never properly recorded your credentials
- Create another Login and Password, by selecting Add user and try again.
If none of the above solutions resolves this error, email your Orb logs folder to userlogs@orb.com so Orb's technical support staff can help you and also and specify whether:
- you have ever connected to Orb or not
- your network settings have changed (new ISP, Internet connection, etc.) since your last successful connection to Orb
- you have installed a new software or upgraded an existing software since your last successful connection to Orb
- your Orb PC is in a corporate LAN (like at work, for example), behind a restrictive firewall, and accesses the Internet via a proxy server
- etc.
Important: providing any additional information specific to your system environment (including firewall version, router, etc.) will help resolve your issue faster.
