How can I find out if my Phone is compatible with and can stream Orb media? |
||||
**** This article is applicable only for 2.0x series of Orb ****
(To know your Orb version, click Orb tray icon - About) The best way to find out if your Web-enabled phone is compatible with Orb is simply to log in to your Orb account with this device at http://mycast.orb.com like you do from any PC (note that, although the URL is exactly the same, Orb servers will format the Web pages to fit your device’s screen size). Once you are logged in, try to stream media from your Orb PC.
Now, if you are not sure that your phone itself has streaming capabilities, log in with this phone to our device test site at http://test.orb.com and try to stream a few of the sample files provided:
a) the media player on your phone either does not have streaming capabilities or cannot read the standard .ASX (Windows), .RAM (Real), or .SDP (3GP) formats: see if you can install another player on this phone;
b) your phone’s data plan does not allow streaming: your Internet service provider gateway blocks the streaming ports (TCP 554 for Real media; UDP 13398 to 13401 for 3GP media).
Note: if your phone has Real player and your ISP blocks streaming (as does T-Mobile for its “unlimited” data plan, or “T-Zones”), try changing the Real media port on your Orb PC (Orb tray icon > Configuration > Advanced (or More info, on older Orb versions)) to something else, like 555.
