Can I play a DRM-protected file in Orb if I have the DRM license for it?

If you have bought a DRM-protected audio or video file, you received a DRM license that enables you to decrypt such file and play it in (usually) the media player you purchased it from. Can you stream these files in Orb? The answer is, it depends what media type it is:
  • For Windows media: Yes
You can stream in Orb DRM-protected .WMA (Windows media audio) and .WMV (Windows media video) if you have the DRM license for those files.
  • For iTunes 3GP media: No
You cannot stream in Orb iTunes Music Store protected .AAC or .M4P and .M4V files. However, check the Hymn Project, for more information on software removal tools like QTFairUse6 and myFairTunes7 which free your iTunes from their DRM restrictions.
  • For Real media: No
You cannot stream .RAX DRM-protected files purchased from Rhapsody or Real Player in Orb. There are several tools that enable you to remove the protection of these files, or tips on how to just convert them to a .MP3 format (like liltone wordpress)
Note: A good resource for DRM-protection removal tools is undrm.info
