When I try to stream inside my LAN, the player on my client device (Wii, etc.) never connects: it just hangs or times out after a while |
||||
This usually happens because you have a software firewall (other than the built-in Windows firewall) on your Orb PC that blocks the incoming TCP port (80, 554, etc.) needed for LAN streaming: you need to configure your software firewall to allow incoming and outgoing traffic for Orb streaming.
To do this, you will need to create incoming and outgoing traffic rules to enable Orb streaming from that PC to either an Internet-connected device or a device within your Local Area Network (LAN), such as another PC, a laptop, a PDA, or a game console (Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3, Xbox 360, etc.).
Every UI and navigation will be different so, if your firewall software is not among the five listed below, refer to your firewall help guide for specific step-by-step instructions on how to create incoming and outgoing traffic rules for the three Orb applications: Orb.exe, OrbTray.exe and OrbStreamerClient.exe.
The ports you need to open on your Orb PC are:
For Windows media (WMP, WinAmp, TCPMP, or Flash Player): TCP port 80 (or port 81, if you have another program like Skype running on your Orb PC. For Real media (RealPlayer): TCP port 554 and UDP port 13398 For 3GP media (Quicktime or other 3GP player): TCP port 554 and UDP ports 13398 to 13401Examples of how to create incoming/outgoing traffic rules on five selected Firewall software:
McAfee Security Center1. Open up the McAfee Security Center
2. Click Internet & Network located in the main panel of the McAfee Security Center window, then click the Configure link

(Note : your other option "Only communications that match all types and ports listed below" requires you to create 3 separate rules to specify the 3 sets of ports listed above (i.e., 80, 554, and 13398 to 13401)
11. Repeat Steps 5. to 10. for OrbTray.exe and OrbStreamerClient.exe
12. Click OK to save these rules. You're done!
