How do I set Port Forwarding if I have two Orb PCs on my LAN?

If you have more than one Orb PC in your LAN, and you do not have a UPnP-enabled router, you must set Port Forwarding on both of your Orb PCs. This will require that you change the default TCP and UDP ports at least on one of them.

To do so, follow these steps:

Step 1 - Set up Port Forwarding on your first Orb PC

Follow the instructions in the Knowledge Base article How do I set Port Forwarding on my router to bypass Orb stream servers?

Step 2 - Set up Port Forwarding on your second Orb PC

Follow exactly the same steps as provided in the instructions of the KB article in Step 1 above, BUT change the TCP and UDP ports as follows:

1.   Click the Orb tray icon > Configuration > Advanced (or More info, on older Orb versions)

2.   Change your Windows Media port to a different value than the one you have set on your first Orb PC, like 8080, for example.

3.   Change your Real/3GP Media port to a different value than the one you have set on your first Orb PC, like 556, for example.

4.   Click OK to save your changes, then exit the Orb configuration.

5.   Change the UDP ports in your Windows registry by adding the following key as follows (USUAL DISCLAIMER: Back-up your registry first):

5a. Start Regedit.exe (Start > Run... > type regedit in the "Open:" field)

5b. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | ORB Networks | Orb | CabClient

5c. Right-click the CabClient folder and select New then DWORD Value

5d. Name your Dword value udpport

5e. Double-click the newly created udpport Dword, select the "Decimal" radio button then, in the "Value data" field, enter 13402 as the new port number this PC will use for Orb (in replacement of port 13398 used by your first Orb PC).

Note:   the 4 ports 13398, 13399, 13400 and 13401 are the default UDP ports already in use (by your first PC). When you create a udpport key and give it a value of 13402, Orb will also use the following 3 ports (i.e., 13403, 13404, and 13405) as 4 ports are necessary to stream 3GP media. So when choosing a UDP port, make sure that the following 3 ports are also available.

5f. Click OK, then exit the Registry Editor.

6.   Access your router, as you did in Step 1 above, then change Port Forwarding to reflect the new ports you have assigned to this second PC. Using the above examples, it would now look like:

Service Name
(or Application)
Start Port End Port Server IP Address
Orb-TCPWin (2) 8080 8080 Second PC IP Address
Orb-TCPReal-3GP (2) 556 556 Second PC IP Address
Orb-UDPReal-3GP (2) 13402 13405 Second PC IP Address

7.  You're done.
