**** This article is applicable only for 2.0x series of Orb ****
(To know your Orb version, click Orb tray icon - About) If you want to create another Orb user accounts on your Orb PC, but you want to prevent that account from accessing certain folders or you want to limit that account’s access to specific folders, you can do so as follows:
1. Create the second account via Orb tray icon > Configuration > Users > Add user: you should get a “Account successfully added” message when done;
2. This second user should now be listed as registered on your computer in the Users list box: click OK to exit the Orb tray icon configuration;
3. Click the Orb tray icon > Configuration again to re-access the configuration menu. You will be prompted to “Select your login”: select the second user login you created in 1. above to be logged in under that account.
4. Select the Media tab, and Add the media folders you want that user to access, and Remove those you do not want to be accessed when logged under that account.
5. You’re done.
Important: in Orb tray icon > Configuration, there are 3 features which functionality is not configurable per user: File Browser, Contact Manager and Webcams. If you enable these features by checking their checkboxes, ALL user accounts created on your Orb PC will be able to access them.
File Browser: if you have File Browser enabled, ALL user accounts registered on your Orb PC will have access to all the files on your hard drive. The access to media folders per user account which you have set up in steps 1 to 5 above has no effect on File Browser. Contact Manager: if you have Contact Manager enabled, ALL user accounts registered on your Orb PC will have access to your email contacts. Webcams: if you have Webcams enabled, ALL user accounts registered on your Orb PC will have access to the captured content of your webcam(s). |
