Error #0X80004005: Unspecified error: Orb cannot stream from your webcam. If possible, try to use another media player. If the problem persists, please send a support request to support.orb.com
If you are able to stream audio / video files but not your webcam then verify that:
- you have installed compatible drivers for your webcam and make sure that it is working on its native application
- your webcam is properly detected as a Windows Capture Device in Orb tray icon > About... > System info after launching Orb. If your Webcam only has a Video for Windows (VFW) entry listed, then it may not work in Orb unless you install WDM DirectShow-compatible drivers for this device. Check your webcam manufacturer's website, download and install the latest drivers, if available and try again.
- your webcam is not in use by its native application or other applications, such as IM, chat, etc. while you are streaming it via Orb. If it's already in use, quit the application and try to stream again via orb.
- your default input audio device is setup and working properly
If problem persists, enable debug mode at Orb tray > Configuration > Advanced > Debug, restart Orb, try to stream a video or audio file and then try to stream your webcam for at least 3mins and finally zip up your Orb logs folder and mail it to userlogs@orb.com with your complete system specifications (OS version, Service Pack, CPU, etc), make/model of your webcam so we can try and offer troubleshooting suggestions.
USB Webcams without built-in microphone: If your webcam does not have a built-in microphone then make sure that your external microphone is properly working and connected to your audio card, try and change your audio settings at http://mycast.orb.com > Open Application > Control Panel > TV/Webcams > Devices > expand the plus sign in front of your Webcam, try a different Audio Input and try again
USB Webcam models with built-in microphone: You may have selected an incorrect audio input at http://mycast.orb.com > Open Application > Control Panel > TV/Webcams > Devices > expand the plus sign in front of your Webcam, try a different Audio Input and try again.
If you are able to stream audio / video files but not Live TV then verify that:
- your tuner has latest drivers installed, if not then update drivers from tuner manufacturer's site.
- your tuners works in its native PVR application
- your tuner is not in use by another PVR application (WinTV, Windows Media Center, etc.) when you are trying to stream Live TV via Orb
80004005 unspecified error: Your TV tuner is either not working or not configured properly or incompatible with Orb. If it is a supported tuner and it works fine on your Orb PC, please send a support request at support.orb.com
- This error usually indicates that Orb cannot access your tuner. Orb will not function with any other third-party PVR application using the tuner, as the tuner cannot be shared. If it does not work with Orb on your PC, it may be due to a conflict with third-party software that may be installed on your system. Suggestion: Try disabling /temporarily uninstall 3rd-party PVR software installed in your system to see if it may be the cause of the conflict with Orb.
- You may have corrupted tuner drivers. Suggestion: Try re-installing your tuner drivers.
- Your anti-virus software had its virus definition (automatically) updated and now blocks the OrbTVBuffer program from executing. Suggestion: Check the list of allowed programs and re-allow OrbTVBuffer.exe (as well as OrbStreamerClient.exe, if other streams also fail)
- Recently, you had some automatic Windows Update that may cause a conflict with the OrbTVBuffer application or the OrbStreamer program which detects audio and video hardware devices on your system. Suggestion: Check in the Add/Remove Programs of your Windows Control Panel for timestamp of Windows updates and try to roll back the update and try again.
- Try to record a Live TV channel via Orb and see if you can play the recorded file locally
Most likely you have a software based tuner which does software-encoding. If that's the case, then you should connect a stereo cable from the audio out of your tuner ( if you have one) to audio in of your sound card and then try or you can also try and change your audio settings at http://mycast.orb.com > Open Application > Control Panel > TV/Webcams > Devices > expand the plus sign in front of your detected TV tuner, and try a different Audio Device and Audio Input.
You should also make sure to "Uncheck" the MPEG-2 option. Note: Support for software based (Non-MPEG2) tuners are still in beta and not fully supported.
Verify that:
you have connected the correct video source to the tuner on your Orb PC
you have selected the correct TV input ("I don't have a set-top box" / select Channel 2,3 4 / S-video / Composite) during Orb TV Setup.
It is possible that Orb may be using the wrong MPEG2 codec on your system. When Orb can't use the preferred MPEG2 codec, it tries the other ones until it finds one that works, and then sets that one as preferred. Please try and change your codecs in Orb tray icon (Orb tray icon > Configuration > Advanced > Codecs) and try again.
