Orb Public Page is your place on the web. As a registered Orb user, you will automatically get your own public page: just point your browser to http://public.orb.com/your_Orb_username. Public page makes it easy to share anything that's on your home computer with your friends and family. From a single photo to a complete channel containing a mix of pictures, videos, audios and documents, there is no limit.
 

Orb Public Page

• A medium to communicate and connect with the others.
• You can create your own personal blog, post articles embedding your media in a click, so that your friends and family can enjoy it while reading your personal blog.
• You have control over your privacy on your public page.
• You can restrict your profile to be seen only by your friends or can allow your website to be viewed by everyone but can have control over their comments on your profile.
• You have full control on any downloads done through your public page thereby preventing your media files from being downloaded by others.
• You can publish 'hidden' channels and only those you shared the URL with will be able to view the hidden channel shared by you.
• Orb Public page enables you to keep a tab and track events that happens on your friend's page. It let's you know as and when some updates occur on your friend's Orb Public page.

Your friends and family do not need to download anything or create any account with Orb. Just share your public page URL (http://public.orb.com/your_Orb_username.) so that they can always access your entire media channel, your blogs and can see all your activities on your space. They can send you messages; add comments on your profile, media channels and blogs and also can add you as a friend. They can play, download, share and post your media files through your public page.

Being an Orb user you can manage your profile, create playlists as media channels, post blogs, add friends on this public page of Orb.

To start playing with your public page, just log on to http://mycast.orb.com with your Orb username and password and then click 'My Public Profile (New)' link. You will land on the home page of your public space. You can also logon to your public page directly via http://public.orb.com/your_Orb_username

On the homepage of your public space, you should be able to view activities of your friends, create channels, post a new blog, send message, find friends and editing your public profile is just a click away. You will also be notified about friend requests, new messages, if any.

Just click Mycast link to access your private space and manage all the media from your home computer.

Note: You can directly login to your public space using http://public.orb.com.

My Profile

This is where your web space of Orb takes shape and you post your blogs, create media channels, add and invite your friends. Your friends and family will see your profile on this page when they access your public page.

Profile

In profile tab you can see many modules which will show your recent activities, profile, friends and comments made by your friends. Your family and friends see the same page when they visit your space.

About (Orbsupport is the Orb username used for example)

This module will display your personal information like name, place and birthday (if not hidden). You can also see your profile picture, if you have uploaded one for your profile. You can also edit your profile or change picture simply by clicking on the Edit Profile/ Change Picture links respectively. Your family and friends can see all your personal information along with your profile picture which you have shared with them. They can also add you as a friend or send messages to you from the same page.

Latest blog entries

Here you will see the latest blog entries along with the date posted and the number of comments added to each of these blog entries.

 

Clicking on a blog entry will allow you to see all media files and comments on that blog entry in Blog tab. View All will display all blog entries and their respective media files with content in Blogs tab. Your friends and family can also see your latest blog entries and view each blog and the contents of the same by clicking on them. They can also add comments to your blog entries.

Recent media channels

Here you will see your shared media channels with their media files that you created recently. When you click on any media, it will be played instantly in the Orb flash player. You can also view and download shared documents.

 

Your friends and family can also see your latest shared media channels along with their media files and can play, download, share, post them to their blogs. Note: Your friends and family can download media from your public page, only if "Remove download option for media channels" option is unchecked in your privacy settings.

Recent Activity

This module will list all your recent activities: channels added, blogs posted, friends added, and if your profile was updated.

Clicking on View All will display all Events based on your recent activities.

Friends

Friends module will display all your Friends.

Clicking on any one of the Friends name will display his/her profile.

Comments

Comments will display the comments added by your friends / family on your profile. Your friends / family can also view comments added to your profile.

Note: Your friends or family cannot access some features like Add as a Friend, Send Message, Add comment, if they don't have an Orb account.

Media

A channel is like an album or a playlist where you can add photos, videos, audio and documents. Here you can create / edit / delete / share/ post the channels to blog and you can also play media files of the channels. Each media channel will have a thumbnail along with the information about the content of the channel.

Your friends and family can access all your shared media channels, they can share, post to their blogs, copy the contents of media channels to their orb computer.

Create new channel

You can set privacy, add some description and some media files to the channel you create.

• Privacy: You can hide channels so that it not listed on your profile, but anyone you give the address to can see it. You can also publicize it, so that it will be listed on your profile.
• Information: You should specify the title of your channel and also add some appropriate description which should give an idea about the media added to this channel.
• Add Media: You can add as many media files as you want, and you can mix photos, videos, audio files and documents. You just need to click Browse button which shows all Orb media files on your Home PC. Select whichever files you need and then add, click on Save and you are done. A new channel will be created and you should see the same in Media tab. You can also add comments, edit your channel title, description and privacy settings and even delete your channel anytime.

Playing your channel

Just click a media file to play or click Play All option to play all media files as a playlist. Clicking on a document file from your media channel will prompt with options like Open / Save. Your friends and family can view all your media channels that are shared publicly and they can also play media files of your channels as a playlist.

Sharing your channel

You should be able to share your channel by simply clicking on Share link. You should see a Share media pop up with your channel being attached. You just have to enter Orb username(s) of your friend(s), a Subject for your message and add message along with the content you are sharing with your friend(s). Now, just click on Send and your message along with media channel is shared to the intended user(s). You can also Share media channels to multiple friends. Single media file from your channel can also be shared by selecting that media and clicking on Share option.

Posting channel to your blog

Just click Post to my blog option to post your channel to your blog, you need to specify a title for your blog and you can also add media as well. You can either post single media file or entire media from your channel to your blog.

Note: Your friends or family cannot access some features like Share, Post to my blog, if they don't have an Orb account. Also they can't use Copy to my Orb computer option, if they have not downloaded and installed Orb on their system.

You can find your entire friends being listed. You can also find your friends and send friend requests to them. You can also see pending sent requests just on clicking View sent requests. Your friends and family can also see your entire friends list here.

Friends tab will display the list of friends and you should be able to find, invite and request your friend's to add you as their friend. Click View sent requests to view requests sent to your friends requesting them to add you as their friend.

Finding Search and add Friends

You can find friends either from your Orb contacts on your Orb computer or by entering their email addresses. Clicking search will search for email addresses from your Orb contacts on your Orb computer with all Orb users and then lists Orb users, if found. Select the friends you wish to add, and then click "Add to Friends". Requests are sent to all selected Orb Users and then non - Orb users from your Orb contacts are listed. Select which contacts to invite from that list and click "Invite" to send requests to all the selected non-Orb contacts.

Invite friends using their email addresses

Enter an email address (or multiple email addresses separated by comma) and click on Search. All Orb user accounts associated with those emails are listed. Select the friends you wish to add, and then click "Add to Friends" to send requests to all the selected Orb users and then non - Orb users, if any are listed. Select which contacts to invite from that list and click "Invite" to send requests to all the selected contacts.

Note: In both the above cases, when Orb users are listed, just click on Skip to list non-Orb users without adding Orb users.

On entering blog tab you will see all the posted blog entries along with their content and media. You can post new blogs, edit, delete blogs, and add comments

Your friends can see all your blog entries with their content, media along with the comments, if added. They can also add comments to your blog entries.


Posting new blogs

To create a blog entry, just click "Post new blog entry" link and enter title, content in the body of the blog and you can also add some media files to your blog entry. HTML tags are also allowed in the body of your blog entries.

Archiving blog entries

You blog entries will be automatically archived based on month on which it was posted. Just select the desired month from the archives drop down and to view all of your blogs posted on that particular month.

Sharing a blog entry

You can also share your blogs by simply clicking on Share link. Share media pop up appears with your blog entry being attached. You just need to enter your friend's Orb username and a Subject for your message. You can give message while sharing. Just click on Send and your message along with blog entry is shared to the intended user. Also you can Share blogs to multiple friends. You can also share only the media file of your blog entry by clicking on Share below the media file.

Your friends can share your blog on your space to their friends so that your blog content is just not viewed by your friends' circle but also the other circle of orb users created by your friends and family. So it becomes like a chain of users and finally your blog content is reached to good number of users.

Permalink for your blog

You can also create permalink of your blog entry by clicking on Permalink option below your blog entry and the Permalink of that blog entry will be there in the address bar of your browser. Just copy that URL and share the same with your friends so that they can directly see your blog entry. Even your friends who access your space can use the permalink of your blogs and share them to their network of friends.

Comments tab will display all comments made by your friends and family on your profile along with date and time. Orb usernames of your friends are hyperlinked for you to view their profiles just by clicking on usernames. Your friends and family can also add media and add comments to your profile.

Settings tab will allow you to edit/update your profile, change password, modify privacy settings and control email alerts.
