Streaming to your game console

Get All Your Digital Media on Your TV

Orb can turn your game console into a full-blown media center and simply enable you to bring all the digital entertainment from your home PC directly to the living room TV screen. Enjoy all your personal media music, Internet and home videos, photos and more on the big screen, using your remote game controller.

How do you do that?

Follow these simple instructions.

You first need to download Orb and install it on your home PC running Windows (See Orb system requirements). Once the Orb installation is complete and you have created your Orb account, follow the instructions below to set up your Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3, or Microsoft Xbox 360 game console.

Current Orb users who already have Orb installed on their PC need to be running Orb version 2.00.0856 or later. To check your current Orb version, click the green Orb tray icon on your taskbar, then select About

On the Wii

1.  Connect your Wii to your TV.

2.  Go to the SHOP channel on your Wii and download the Opera browser, if you do not already have it. When the download is complete, the Internet Channel will be added to your main Wii menu.

3.  Select the Internet Channel from the main Wii menu. Type in mycast.orb.com into the Opera Browser, and enter your Orb login and password.

4.  You’re done! Your Wii can now stream media from your PC to your TV. Be sure to leave your PC turned on in order to access the photos, music and other media.

Note:  If you get a spinning circle when you attempt to stream audio or video from your Orb PC to your Wii, you may have your incoming TCP port 80 blocked by the software firewall on your Orb PC. Make sure you create rules to enable Orb applications to communicate through this port. For more information on how to do that, see our KB article "When I try to stream inside my LAN, the player on my client device (Wii, etc.) never connects: it just hangs or times out after a while"

On the PS3

1.  Connect your PS3 to your TV.

2.  On the PS3, go to the Internet Browser option from the main menu.

3.  Type mycast.orb.com in the address bar of your PS3 Browser, and enter your Orb login and password.

4.  You’re done! Select the media from your PC you want to stream on the big screen via your PS3. Be sure to leave the PC turned on in order to access the photos, music and other media.

Note:  if the media player appears in a small window on your TV, press twice the R3 button on your PS3 controller to change it to full screen.

On the Xbox 360

1.   Connect your Xbox 360 to your TV.

2.   On the Media tab of your Xbox, select Music, Pictures, or Video.

3.   Select Computer from the Options menu.

4.   Click "Yes, continue" when asked if you have downloaded and installed media sharing software on your computer.

5.   Select from the list the computer running Orb. You should now be able to access the media on your Orb PC. The default selection is:

For Music, the music in your MyDocuments / MyMusic and SharedDocuments/MyMusic folders

For Pictures, the photos in your MyDocuments / MyPhotos and SharedDocuments / MyPhotos folders

For Videos, the videos in your MyDocuments /MyVideos and SharedDocuments/MyVideos folders

To add or change media folders, click the green Orb tray icon on your computer, then "Configuration", and select the "Media" tab to add your new folders.

Note: to add Internet TV channels to your Videos, you must first designate them as Orb Favorites.

Important: you need to have the Fall 2006 update installed on your Xbox 360 to be able to stream via Orb
