Modifying your user account info on mycast
Change your password, public profile & other user settings

Where? in the User Account section of the Control Panel in your mycast account.

You can’t log in because you forgot your password? Click the password link in the login box (see screenshot) at mycast.orb.com: you will be prompted to provide your Orb Login. Orb will then send you a temporary password at the email address you gave when you first created your Orb account. So check your spam/junk filter to whitelist Orb Networks and Orb Support.

Once you log in to your mycast account at mycast.orb.com, click Open Application and select Control Panel, then click User Account from the pulldown menu.

Control Panel | User Account

User Information

Personal Information - enter your first name, last name, gender, birthday, address, and a few words about you to be displayed in your profile on your public page.

Change picture - upload a picture from a file on your PC, a snapshot from your webcam or from a URL somewhere on the Internet, to be displayed on your public profile, along with the personal information you provide.

Send Orb link to cell phone - enter your 10-digit US cell phone number and click this link to send an SMS to your phone with the mycast.orb.com URL, so you do not have to manually enter it on the keyboard of your mobile device. When you receive it, just bookmark that link on your phone for future use.

Password

To change your password, click on the link Click here to change your password : a box will pop up and prompt you to enter your old password and the new password you wish to use.

Note: your Orb password is stored in Orb Network’s user database and on your Orb PC. So if you change your password on mycast.orb.com at a time when your Orb PC is not connected to Orb servers, Orb will update its own user database but will not be able to change this password on your PC. Therefore, the next time you start Orb on your PC, you will see an “Invalid Login or Password” pop-up message in your Orb tray icon: click this tray icon balloon to open the password update dialog box and enter your new password.

Emails

This is where you can add email addresses and select your default email address. If you never verified your email address upon receiving Orb Network’s request for email verification right after you created your account, or if you never received that request (because of your spam filter, etc.), you can do it here.

Why verify your email address? Orb needs it to reset your password, if you ever forget it.

If you forget your password and request a new password via the “Forgot password?” link on the login page, Orb Networks will send this temporary password to the verified email address associated with that Orb login. If you never verified your email address, you will prompted to re-enter that email address (i.e., the one you used when you first created your Orb account): if you enter the correct email address, Orb verifies it and sends your temporary password to that email address; if you do not enter the correct email address, the process aborts and you will not be able to use that same Orb account again.

This is the only mechanism to get a new password. Orb cannot retrieve a lost password.

Note: if you entered an email address which does not exists when you created your Orb account and you forget your password, you will have to create another Orb account.

Other Accounts

This simply lists your linked accounts, that is, accounts that are registered under the same verified email address. If you have two linked Orb accounts and both are registered under the same email address, then you will be able to access shared media sent to that email address when you log in to any of these two Orb accounts.

Media Upload PIN

This is where you enter your Orb PIN which is used by Orb whenever you remotely upload files to your Orb PC. See the Knowledge Base article How do I upload photos or videos from my phone camera to my Orb PC? for more info and details on how to use this feature.
